WITH Easington's Music Festival in full swing, a programme of new events is ready to get under way.
A tea dance and singalong is at Earl House, Seaham, at 2pm this afternoon, repeated at 2pm on Friday at Wheatley House, Wheatley Hill. Admission is free.
Murton Colliery Band will be celebrating its 120th anniversary at 7pm on Saturday at the Glebe Centre, Murton. Tickets costing £3 (£2 concessions) are on sale at the Glebe Centre or on 0191-5208650.
A Glenn Miller dance night with the new Horizon Band is on Saturday at Thornley Community Centre, including a pie and peas supper. Tickets cost £7 from the community centre or on (01429) 820389.
Durham County Brass Band Association hosts a day packed with solo, duet and quartet competitions from 9.30am on Sunday at the Community Theatre, East Durham and Houghall College, Peterlee. Tickets cost £2 (£1 concessions).
Diwal celebrations come to East Durham and Houghall Community College, Peterlee, on Sunday, November 7, at 4.30pm, featuring Kali Thasan and Sangeeta Ghosh. Tickets cost £8 for adults (£5 for children under 12, under-fives free), and are available from the college reception, Peterlee Information Centre or on 0191-5860744.
