A SCALE model of explorer Captain James Cook's ship Endeavour was presented to the Captain Cook Birthplace Museum, in Stewart Park, Middlesbrough, yesterday by members of the Redcar and Cleveland Town Twinning Association.
The model was built in Troisdorf, Germany, twinned with Redcar and Cleveland, by Herr Frey, as he was so impressed by the story of Captain Cook.
Herr Frey died recently, but left his model to the museum.
Among the first to admire the new exhibit, a 1:60th scale replica, was museum curator Phil Philo.
He said: "We're delighted to receive this scale model from Germany during our annual Cook celebrations.
"The story of James Cook and the Endeavour has captured the imagination of people all round the world and inspired all generations."
