FIREFIGHTERS were called to a traffic accident which ended with the two cars landing in a ditch.
One driver, a 21-year-old man from Guisborough, east Cleveland, was cut free from the wreckage by firefighters. He was admitted to the University of Hartlepool with a fractured pelvis and internal injuries, but was later transferred to The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough.
The injured man had been driving a red Ford Mondeo, which was in collision with a silver Ford Fiesta outside the Huntsman Tioxide chemical works, in Tees Road, Greatham, near Hartlepool, yesterday.
The driver of the Fiesta was described by Cleveland Police as "walking wounded".
