THE heartbroken parents of a young nurse who was murdered by her husband told how they warned he would strike again.

And they urged that Kenneth Milroy, 52, should never be freed after he stabbed a former girlfriend eight times only weeks after he was released from prison.

Lynne Bell was sunbathing in the garden of her Gateshead home on August 8 when Milroy struck.

The attack took place ten weeks after he was freed, having served nine years in jail for killing Kathleen, his third wife.

In 1994, the jealous welder climbed on to the bonnet of their car after a row, punched out the windscreen as she tried to drive away, dragged her into a yard off Coatsworth Road, Gateshead, and strangled her.

He denied murdering Kathleen, 33, a nurse at Gateshead's Queen Elizabeth Hospital, but changed his plea to guilty after her mother, Delia Garnett, gave evidence.

He was jailed for life at Newcastle Crown Court in August 1995.

Mrs Garnett, 55, and her husband, Malcolm, 56, said yesterday: "We feel the system has let us and everyone else down. We never stopped telling the authorities he would murder again.

"This woman was almost killed by him and we are certain he will kill again. We know he just loves hurting women."

He pleaded guilty to wounding with intent during a hearing at Newcastle Crown Court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody until November 19 for sentencing.
