THEY are more used to strutting their stuff on the pitch at St James' Park than the catwalk, but Newcastle United stars will soon be turning heads in aid of charity next month.

The footballers will be rubbing shoulders with stars of the music world when they model the latest designer fashion to raise money for cancer sufferers through Macmillan Cancer Relief.

Boy band Westlife are to make an appearance at the charity event and Irish rock legends U2 have donated a guitar for auction.

Bids are also being taken online for the instrument, which is expected to raise thousands.

The Newcastle United first team squad will don the latest Prada, Gucci, Hugo Boss and Vivienne Westwood creations at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead Hotel on November 21.

Kicking off with a champagne reception, the event will then see the players show off the new autumn and winter range from the clothes shop Cruise.

The models will also be sporting the latest hair and make-up, courtesy of Reef Hair and Beauty at the event, which is being staged in association with Vogue magazine.

A fundraising raffle will see captain Alan Shearer present winners with their prizes.

Last year, the charity launched an appeal to raise £575,000 by next year to improve vital services for patients in the area and £500,000 has already been collected.
