A PROTEST group is to monitor a waste transfer station which is opening near their homes.
Yesterday, the Stainton Grove Action Group ended its two-year fight against the station. The group was was challenging Durham County Council's decision to grant permission for the station at Stainton Grove, near Barnard Castle, and the case was due to be heard in the High Court.
But the group decided to take action instead in the event of any nuisance or danger from the station.
