EAST Durham youngsters have brought some harvest cheer as well as a health message to older residents in their community.
Pupils from Blackhall Primary School visited three residential care homes in the district and presented their harvest festival assembly collection of fruit and vegetables to them.
Easington Primary Care Trust's Health Collaborative worked with the school to provide fruit and vegetables for the elderly residents in keeping with the spirit of harvest time.
Karen Smith, collaborative manager, said: "This project was about getting the old and young together in the community to celebrate harvest time, while also getting across a healthy message about the benefits of eating fruit and vegetables, both to schoolchildren and the elderly."
