YOUNGSTERS from a north Durham school became VIPs for the day when they re-launched their local supermarket.
Pupils from South Stanley Primary School were invited to open the new Co-op Welcome store, in Tyne Road, Stanley.
To celebrate the re-launch of the former Alldays store, staff presented the children with £100 of gift vouchers for the school.
The Co-op has invested £172,000 in redeveloping the site, which was one of 30 in the region that it acquired when it bought the Alldays chain at the end of 2002.
