WITH Rosedale's home game against Union Rovers postponed and Sinnington losing their first league game of the season to champions and current leaders Kirkdale United, the first division's top two opened up a gap at the top last Saturday.
Two unbeaten sides clashed at Sinnington, with visitors Kirkdale winning 4-3 after a great game enjoyed by both camps.
Kirkdale took a two-goal first-half lead thanks to a brace of Ashley Windrass goals and they doubled their advantage after the break thanks to an own goal and Windrass completing his hat-trick.
Sinnington then stormed into action with goals by Gary Mitchell, Paul Harland and David Wilkinson, the latter with the last kick of the match.
Aislaby United and Heslerton also enjoyed a seven-goal thriller, with the home side edging the points by the odd goal to remain second.
Kirkbymoorside Reserves managed to field a team, beating Thornton le Dale 3-2 to move up to fourth.
Black Swan Pickering beat Duncombe Park 1-0 thanks to a Steve Sailes header in the 66th minute. Black Swan missed several chances and Duncombe Park keeper Andy Caine was in outstanding form, making several outstanding saves.
In the second division, Slingsby completed a league double over Old Malton 3rds to remain in top spot, but only just after a slender 2-1 home win.
Ryedale Sports Club are three points behind the leaders with two games in hand and a far superior goal difference thanks to an 11-2 win at St Clement's WMC.
The all-Norton derby between two of the league's newcomers saw Union Rovers 2nds defeat Norton United Reserves 2-1.
The Bagby and Balk v Coxwold and Carlton United v Ampleforth games were both postponed owing to waterlogged pitches.
