A TEENAGER sexually assaulted a woman only two days after he was released from a young offenders' institution.
The 24-year-old woman was walking her dog in a park when Karl Hughes, 17, asked her for the time.
He followed her until she reached her home, where he attacked her, but she fought him off, said Christine Egerton, prosecuting.
The attack, in Teesville, near Middlesbrough, took place two days after Hughes was released from Castington Young Offenders' Institute for aggravated vehicle-taking, Teesside Crown Court was told.
Ian West, in mitigation, said Hughes ended the attack when the woman put up a fight.
He said: "If it had been in his mind to rape her, he had a better opportunity earlier on.
"I do not wish for one moment to decry what happened to her. The attack was quickly desisted."
Mr West said Hughes suffered from Attention Deficit Disorder, and had been wandering about when he met the woman.
Hughes, of Shelley Crescent, Middlesbrough, was ordered to serve four months from his last sentence as well as another 18 months in detention after he pleaded guilty to the July 1 sexual assault.
He was also given a training order and will register as a sex offender for five years.
