YEARS of vegetation have been cleared to reveal the historic Kirkbymoorside name sign.
The sign has been cleaned up by town mayor Councillor Nigel Richardson and retired farmer Ron Simpson.
They have renovated the sign, set on a millstone believed to be from the old Farndale Mill, amid old stone troughs which have now been planted with spring flowers.
"It's been an eyesore for years" said Mr Simpson. "So we decided to do something about it"
Coun Richardson said: "It's a good kick-start to the campaign to brighten up Kirkbymoorside with floral displays next year."
