YOUNG Patch is as playful and loyal as most other dogs - the only difference is that he is deaf.

Having already been picked up from a rehoming centre, the little collie-cross is back in kennels because his owners were unable to cope.

Darlington Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre, in Sadberge, is looking for the perfect owner for the one-year-old, who will dedicate time to training Patch with hand signals.

"He is not impossible to train, but it will take time and patience. The important thing will be for the owners to create a bond with Patch," said centre manager Sue Embleton.

"He is house trained and such a lovely dog."

At the centre, Patch shares a kennel with Diana, a two-year-old Labrador-cross.

Diana was taken in as a stray, with a nasty ear infection and a few sores and scrapes on her legs. Following treatment, she is also looking for a new home.

Anyone who would like more information about the two dogs can call the centre on (01325) 333114.
