SCHOOLCHILDREN across the region are being given the chance to become the face of a music shop chain
Music Zone is launching the competition to encourage creativity in youngsters.
The competition is for pupils aged five to 16 and the winner will star in a commercial, to be broadcast next month, telling viewers what the young person wants for Christmas.
The winner's school will also receive £500 of CDs and DVDs and two DVD players.
Entrants are being asked to redesign the cover of a CD or DVD from a list of titles being released this Christmas, including ones recorded by Busted, Britney Spears and Robbie Williams.
Steve Oliver, the managing director of Music Zone, said: "We decided this would be a fun way to get children thinking about creativity in promoting music and films. For someone, it might even prove the start of a career in entertainment."
Schools across the North-East have been contacted about the competition, which is part of Music Zone's Pupils On TV initiative to encourage creativity in schools.
Entries must be placed in Pupils on TV postboxes inside participating Music Zone stores by Friday, November 12.
