MARK PROCTOR was reasonably happy with Saturday's FA Cup first round draw after Darlington were paired with League Two rivals, Yeovil Town.
After gate-crashing a corporate box at the back of the main stand, Proctor looked on as Quakers were drawn at home to the Glovers on 13 November.
And Proctor, who played in the same Middlesbrough side as Quakers boss David Hodgson, which reached the quarter-finals of the competition in 1981, believes fourth-placed Town will provide a good test.
Quakers earned a point at Huish Park in August and Proctor said: "It's a good home draw against difficult opposition and I don't think we can really complain.
"We played them earlier in the season and they are a very good side. I thought we gave a very good account of ourselves down there and could easily have won the game.
"Providing it was a home draw we were prepared to take anybody on. We could have been drawn against weaker opposition but games against non-league sides are always potential banana skins.
"Hopefully it's a tie which will excite the fans and bring a few more people in."
Yeovil have a proud FA Cup tradition as giant-killers, most famously in the third round back in 1949 when the then Southern League side defeated 'Bank of England' club Sunderland.
Last year they reached the third round of the competition last season, were they were eventually eliminated by Liverpool in a 2-0 defeat at Huish Park.
It was in David Hodgson's first game in charge last year that Quakers suffered an embarrassing early exit at the hands of non-league Hornchurch.
And while high-flying Town will provide a stern test of Quakers' Cup credentials this time around, Proctor has set his sights on a run, which he hopes will boost support.
He said: "The FA Cup is a different environment from the League and it's what we all enjoy as players and coaches.
"It's always nice to enjoy a little run and if we can do that I'm sure we will entice more supporters to come down and watch us.
"There is no doubt that we need to give them a better product to watch and that will only come when we start performing more consistently."
