THE Centre for Process Innovation (CPI) has appointed GRAHAM HILLIER to help develop the hydrogen economy in the North-East.
The centre is one of regional development agency One NorthEast's five centres of excellence in the region.
Mr Hillier, 45, has worked in business development across the European process industry and is now director of CPI's hydrogen fuel facility, which is developing the use of the alternative fuel source.
Drivers entering the Wilton chemical site in Teesside now have their speed monitored by Europe's only hydrogen fuel cell-powered road traffic sign.
Mr Hiller is from Lancashire but has lived in the Tees Valley for more than 20 years. He is a visiting professor at Salford University, and before joining CPI he was a director of construction at Corus.
