THE SPIRIT of Christmas past, and present comes early to a community theatre.
Chester-le-Street Amateur Operatic Society, which celebrated its centenary last year, begins its 101st performing season with a musical version of The Christmas Carol.
It is the first time the society has staged Scrooge, the Musical, a modern adaptation of the Dickens' classic.
The 30-strong cast includes society veteran Allan Reed in the title role, and newcomer Dylan Childs as Tiny Tim.
Scrooge, the Musical will be staged at the Park View Community Theatre, Chester-le-Street, from Monday until Saturday, November 6, with curtain up at 7.15pm.
Tickets, £6 for adults and £3 for children are available on the door, or by ringing (0191) 388 6001, or 584 3061.
