A FESTIVAL of music will be held at a North-East cathedral to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Army Benevolent Fund.
The Durham Cathedral concert at 7.30pm on Friday, November 12, will feature The Normandy Band of the Queen's Division, The North-umbria Band of The Tyne-Tees Regiment, the Bugles of the Light Division, the Pipes and Drums of 102 Battalion Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, The Lemington Male Voice Choir, and cathedral organist James Lancelot.
Brigadier Jeremy Gaskell, the regional director of the Army Benevolent Fund, said: "As the Army's national charity, the ABF is as strongly committed as ever to the welfare of Army, ex-Army, TA personnel and their families in this, its Diamond Jubilee year.
"This is the biggest event that the ABF is running in the North-East. We dispensed £250,000 to help people in need in this region in the last 12 months.
"This will be a special evening, which we hope lots of people will enjoy and will raise lots of funds for the ABF."
The programme will include the Battle Hymn of the Republic, Hymn to the Fallen and Saint-Saens' Organ Symphony. Tickets are £15, and £8 for restricted viewing, available on 0191- 332 4041.
