A TEN-YEAR-OLD girl is celebrating after winning the 2004 North-East Children's Triathlon.
Claudine Wivell, from Ripon, beat 20 other competitors to win the title.
Triathlon involves different combinations and distances of swimming, cycling and running. The Children's Triathlon competition consists of six events - three traditional triathlons and three aquathlons, which involve swimming and running.
Claudine trains with the Thirsk White Horse swim team at Thirsk Swimming Pool.
Myles Strudwick, from the pool, said: "This is an outstanding achievement by Claudine. Her effort and determination really paid off. I am sure this is the first of many successes in such events."
