A BUS driver has been recognised for his dedication to duty, customer care and driving skills during a career spanning almost 35 years.
Norman Simpson, 66, from Eaglescliffe, was named Colleague of the Year at bus operator's Go North East's first staff awards ceremony.
Mr Simpson began his career with OK Travel, in 1970, before it was taken over by Go North East in 1995. His grandparents owned a bus company, Florence's Tours, and his uncles were all bus drivers.
Mr Simpson, who is married with two children, said he enjoyed his job as much today as he did when he started.
He said: "Nowadays drivers face much more pressure but I try not to let this faze me."
