POLICE are no closer to catching the killer of a prostitute whose body was found on isolated moorland four years ago.
The naked body of Vicky Glass, 21, was discovered on the North York Moors, on the outskirts of Danby, near Whitby, North Yorkshire, in November 2000, six weeks after she was dropped off by a taxi near the Shipmate pub, in Middlesbrough, early on Sunday, September 24.
Her death has sparked the longest-running murder inquiry ever carried out by Cleveland Police.
Superintendent Brian Dunn said: "The hunt for the person responsible goes on. This inquiry will always remain open, and subject to continual review.
"Someone out there knows what happened, or can give us the lead we need."
Miss Glass had moved away from her family home in Stockton to Middlesbrough, where her drug addiction led her into prostitution.
After her body was found, her mother, Deborah Goodall, said: "I can't put into words how I feel, it hurts so much. Somebody must know something."
At an inquest in Pickering, North Yorkshire, last year, forensic pathologist Dr Kenneth Shorrock was unable to give the cause of death and an open verdict was recorded.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cleveland Police on (01642) 326326.
