A MEMORIAL service will be held tomorrow for Ina Bell, a much-loved former resident of Hurworth.
Mrs Bell moved to the village in 1950 with her husband, Charles, and lived in The Green for 52 years before leaving in 2002 to be near her son, John, and his family in Malvern, Worcestershire.
Dr Ian Bagshaw, of the Rockcliffe Court practice, said: "Ina was a tiny lady and she was a grandmother to everyone in the village.
"The Women's Institute decided to organise the memorial service and we hope as many people as possible will come along."
Mrs Bell was born and married in Darlington and during the Second World War she worked for the Royal Ordnance Corps in Heigh- ington, while her husband joined the Army. After the war, the couple ran Parkgate post office in Darlington before the family moved to Hurworth.
The service in her memory will be held in All Saints Church, Hurworth, tomorrow at 2pm.
