A RETIRED musician has written a book about his childhood.
Trevor Woolston, 86, of Grinton, Swaledale, wrote Tales For My Great Granddaughter, last year, after the birth of his great-granddaughter Jodie.
The book compares his childhood, growing up in Northamptonshire, with what Jodie is likely to experience.
"I look at what she will have to face growing up now, compared to me in the 1920s and 1930s," said Mr Woolston.
"In those days, you had the freedom to do exactly as you pleased."
A violin teacher and professional musician, Mr Woolston founded the Swaledale Festival in 1981, performing and directing until 1992.
He said: "When I got too old to perform in public, I decided to go back to writing, which I have always enjoyed."
The book costs £4.95, from Serendipity, 37 to 39 Victoria Road, Darlington, DL1 5SF.
