A TEESSIDE couple who overcame redundancy and illness to set up their own manufacturing company have been shortlisted for a national business award.
Geoff and Chris Baxter, from Middlesbrough, have won a place in the national finals of the Government-backed awards, called Trading Places.
The pair started their own company producing plastic promotional goods using recycled materials last year.
With help from JobCentre Plus and a grant from West Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Trust and Business Link, the couple started Baxter Promotions, which offers a one-stop service for promotional items and business gifts.
The Baxters have received £1,000 for being shortlisted and they will attend a gala luncheon next month where the national winner will be announced.
Trading Places was launched in August by the Department for Work and Pensions.
