DREAMS of appearing at the Millennium Stadium are now one step closer for a group of Darlington youngsters after winning a football tournament held at the Williamson Motors Stadium.
The under-11 team from Abbey Primary School won the Kellogs Frosties Cup Tournament, coming top out of more than 20 Darlington primary schools.
Abbey won the tournament after a tense final where they beat Dodmire School on penalties.
The school will now go to the Northern regional final in Huddersfield, where if they are successful they will travel to the national finals at the Millennium Stadium.
The Quaker's Football in the Community officer, Kevin Stonehouse, said: "I want to thank the club for letting us use the stadium, the facilities are great and it was a massive opportunity for the children.
"It was a great day and the standard of football was very good. There were one or two players who caught the eye and I'm sure the club will be speaking to them."
