VOLUNTARY groups are to be recognised for their dedication to training volunteers and community workers at an ceremony later this month.
The second Annual Academy Awards, to be held at Durham's Collingwood College, on November 23, will celebrate developments in the voluntary sector workforce in County Durham.
Among the main prize winners will be 25 managers from voluntary and community organisations who have completed Chartered Management Institute diplomas.
The event has been organised by the One Voice Network Voluntary Sector Academy, Developing Initiatives Supporting Communities and Learning and Skills Council.
There will be workshops on health and social care, grants, support networks and qualifications, and help to provide community access to technology and learning schemes.
