PUPILS have experienced life in a military band.
Six students from Richmond School spent yesterday with the Normandy Band of the Queen's Division, at Catterick Garrison.
The young musicians rehearsed and then marched with the band.
"We told them it is a hobby that we get paid for," said Corporal Jonathan O'Neill.
"The pupils got a chance to see what life was like in a band and we talked about the different engagements where we perform."
Ali Finnigan, head of music at Richmond School, said her pupils had enjoyed the day.
"They have found out that there are different aspects to a military band, not just marching."
The Normandy Band performs concerts across the country. They also served in Iraq last year.
The day was part of a recruitment drive being run by the band.
