Lucinda Russell, who is currently enjoying her best season, looks the trainer to follow at Carlisle today if the course passes a precautionary early morning inspection.

Her Nolife, who has been in good form with two recent wins, can complete the three-timer in the Racing UK Channel 432 Novices Handicap Hurdle over two and a half miles.

Following a gutsy win over three miles on soft ground at Perth in August, the eight-year-old turned in his best effort and showed the right attitude when winning over course and distance last time.

He's four pounds higher this time but looks the sort to continue to improve and he's again ridden by Peter Buchanan, who is tremendous value for his 5lb allowance.

Buchanan and Russell can also be on the mark with Kerry Lads, who should be all the better for a recent run, in the Enter The £1 Million totetentofollow Lucius Handicap Chase over three miles and two furlongs.

Although he's had problems with his fencing technique he's a very capable performer when he does get it right, and he shaped as though retaining all his ability over this course and distance at the end of last month.

He jumped with much more fluency on that occasion and only dropped out of contention over the last three fences.

That should have put him spot on for this and he can reverse placings with Hugo de Grez, who finished just in front of him that day.

Len Lungo can also be in double form and his Magic Combination and Carapuce appeal as likely winners of the Blackwell Conditional Jockeys Handicap Hurdle and Rydal Beginners Chase respectively.

The former shaped as though coming to hand over this course and distance on soft ground last time when third to Rising Generation and this race doesn't look as competitive.

Lungo's Carapuce goes on soft ground, knows how to win and should give a good account on his chasing debut at the main expense of Le Royal and Bob The Piler.

At Wolverhampton Miss George looks the one to be on under a penalty in the betdirect.co.uk Handicap over the extended mile.

Dean Ivory's six-year-old turned in an improved effort to win a Listed event at Lingfield last time and, although that wasn't the strongest race of its type, she'll take the beating under a penalty.

Cold Turkey developed into a real Polytrack specialist last winter and can carry the good work on back on sand in the Littlewoods Bet Direct Handicap over the extended two miles.

This multiple winner last winter proved his effectiveness over this trip at Kempton in spring and, although below his best after his latest short break at Doncaster last time, looks worth another chance back on sand.

Southwell returns to action after a break for some essential repair work. David Chapman, who has enjoyed a tremendous year and had a Listed win at Doncaster on Saturday, can be on the mark with Torrent (12.30) and Redoubtable (1.00).

Neither are ones to be lumping on at short odds but both have shown enough on sand this year to suggest they can go well in their respective banded events.
