MORE than 150 people have attended two events designed to encourage a healthy lifestyle and safety in the home.
The health promotion days, in Wensleydale, were organised by Hambleton and Richmondshire Primary Care Trust.
Visitors to the events, which were staged over two days last month at Middleham Key Centre and Askrigg Village Hall, were able to get their flu jab, have their blood pressure and blood sugar levels checked, and receive advice about home energy and fire safety.
At Middleham Key Centre, more than 30 home energy efficiency referrals were dealt with for grants and insulation checks, along with numerous referrals for smoke detectors, door chains and bolts.
At Askrigg Village Hall, more than 50 people received their flu jabs, as well as health advice.
District nurse, Tanya Wilbor, who organised the days, said: "It was an opportunity for people to see that good health is much more than a visit to the doctor or nurse.
"Being safe both inside and outside your home, keeping warm and saving money, ensuring you can receive appropriate financial assistance, and helping other people to be healthy have a big impact on well-being.
"We also managed to provide some basic health screening, such as the blood pressure checks, which proved invaluable for some people who needed to seek further advice."
