A NEW comedy by a North-East writing duo has broken box office records six months before its first performance.
Ticket sales for Waiting for Gateaux have reached 1,400, even though the debut show at the Customs House, South Shields, South Tyneside, is not until April.
It is the latest play by Ed Waugh and Trevor Wood, who penned the successful comedies Dirty Dusting, Good to Firm and Raising the Stakes.
The play is about a slimming club, where members are tricked into shedding pounds after learning they have been selected for a reality television show.
It runs from Wednesday to Saturday, April 6 to 9. With 1,400 tickets sold, only 600 remain. They range from £6 to £11 and are available from the box office on 0191-454 1234.
