WITH the onset of dark nights, residents of York have been given advice about home security.
An anti-burglary drive was held at Woodthorpe Primary School, in Summerfield Road, on Saturday, as part of an ongoing operation.
The event was organised by York police and a number of different agencies, including Neighbourhood Watch, Age Concern and the fire service, were present.
Visitors were given tips on how to recognise and deal with bogus callers, how to be safe and secure and also fire safety advice.
Free security pens were given out for people to mark their belongings.
Sue Sunderland, the Liberal Democrat ward councillor for Dringhouses and Woodthorpe, said: "It's part of an operation being run by Safer York with regards to burglary and crime reduction."
