YOUNGSTERS have taken part in an event encouraging them to take up a healthy lifestyle.
The year seven pupils from Blakeston School, Norton, took part in dance workshops and spent time in the gym. They also had lessons about fruit and vitamins and looked at personal hygiene.
The school has been awarded sports college status after successfully fundraising for money that would allow it to buy facilities including a dance studio, sports physiotherapy lab and gym which can also be used by the public.
The event, on Friday, was aimed at putting the facilities to good use.
Georgie Sale, headteacher, said: "The kids have been really excited about taking part in the event, it is a nice change for them.
"Hopefully it will encourage them to take up healthier lifstyles."
