A TEENAGE girl was fighting for her life yesterday after a serious car accident.
The 17-year-old from Redcar sustained multiple injuries after the crash in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The 20-year-old male driver escaped with only minor injuries from the accident shortly before 1am on Redcar Road in Marske, near Redcar.
The blue Renault Clio was travelling south towards Marske when it crashed just after a right-hand bend near Cat Flatt Lane. The car hit a lamppost and a bus stop before careering down the road hitting further objects. It finally came to rest on the nearside verge of the road. The Clio had extensive damage to the roof, rear and near side.
The girl, who was in the front passenger seat, was in a critical condition in the University Hospital of James Cook in Middlesbrough yesterday. The 20-year-old driver was helping police with their inquiries yesterday.
