THE company building Europe's largest single biodiesel plant in Teesside, the Biofuels Corporation, has appointed CLARE SPOTTISWOODE as a non-executive director.
Mrs Spottiswoode is a non-executive director of a number of energy companies, including British Energy, Tullow Oil and Economatters.
The 51-year-old is best known for her work as the UK's gas regulator between 1993 and 1998.
Following a degree in maths and economics at Cambridge and an M.Phil in economics at Yale University in the US, she started her career as a civil servant at the Treasury.
Field Walton, chairman of the Biofuels Corporation, said: "We are delighted that Clare has joined the board of Biofuels. Her contacts and knowledge of the energy sector should prove invaluable to the growth and development of the business."
The 250,000 tonne-plant is being built at Seal Sands, on Teesside, and is expected to be operational in spring next year.
