A TEENAGE girl was fighting for her life last night after an accident.
The 17-year-old from Redcar, in east Cleveland, sustained multiple injuries after the crash in the early hours of yesterday.
The car's 20-year-old driver escaped with only minor injuries from the accident shortly before 1am on Redcar Road in Marske, near Redcar.
The blue Renault Clio was travelling south towards Marske when it crashed moments after a right-hand bend near Cat Flatt Lane.
The car hit a lamp-post and a bus stop before careering down the road hitting further objects. It finally came to rest on the nearside verge of the road. It had extensive damage to the roof, rear and near side.
The girl, who was in the front passenger seat, was last night in a critical condition in the University Hospital of James Cook, Middlesbrough.
The driver was helping police with their inquiries.
Any witnesses were asked to call (01642) 302626.
