SWIMMING pool staff are going to be well and truly locked into some serious fundraising for the annual Children in Need appeal next week.
They are going to spend five days ensconced at the pool in Thirsk - 24 hours a day every day.
Two of the pool's attendants are taking part in the sponsored lock-in.
They will arrive for work on Monday and not be allowed to leave until 5pm on Friday - 104 hours later.
They plan to set up a improvised campsite inside the centre, pitching their tents around the pool and gym.
They will be working against each other to collect sponsorship money, but the person with the most money in their bucket each day will be penalised and will have to undertake a forfeit.
"Details of forfeits are being kept a closely guarded secret so as not to scare off volunteers," said duty officer Nicola Stockdale.
"Rumours are rife about leg waxing and head shaving. Forfeits will be taken at 4.30pm each day when we hope there will be lots of customers about to witness their discomfort."
