MORE than 350 children from schools across North Yorkshire got an insight into a career with the Army yesterday.
Pupils from 11 schools took part in the careers fair at Catterick Garrison.
The event was organised by 5 Battalion Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and the Business and Education Partnership for York and North Yorkshire (NYBEP).
As well as learning about different careers in the Army, the pupils were given firearms demonstrations, and even got the chance to try their hands at blacksmithing and go-karting.
Organiser warrant officer Kevin Burnett said: "This is the second Catterick science, technology, engineering and maths fair we've held.
"It gives pupils the opportunity to see for themselves how important engineering is in the armed forces, and how many different engineering careers that the Army has to offer."
