DETECTIVES are appealing for help to identify a thief who was captured on security cameras.

Police have released an image of the man they think is responsible for the theft of six personal stereos from Argos, in Newton Aycliffe.

At about 1.30pm on Thursday, September 2, a man entered Argos store holding several carrier bags and sat down at the customer collection area.

He then walked to a display basket and removed six Philips personal CD players, worth £120, then returned to the seating area where he placed the items in his carrier bags.

A few minutes later he left the store without paying. The man is described as white, aged 30 to 35, slim, with short dark hair. He was wearing a light Adidas hooded top and dark trousers.
