MATTY Robson is hoping Hartlepool United's away day blues are over.

Pool have suffered on the road this season, winning just once in League One and losing seven times.

But, after four successive victories - three at home and a win at Conference side Carlisle in the LDV Vans Trophy - Robson can see better times ahead.

He scored in last Saturday's 3-0 FA Cup stroll over Lincoln City at Victoria Park and is relishing the task of going to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Former Pool boss Chris Turner has been replaced at Hillsborough by Paul Sturrock, but The Owls' fortunes continue to stutter - they were thumped 4-1 at Swindon last week and remain below Pool in the League One table.

"We got three against Lincoln and were comfortable,'' reflected Robson. "In the second half, we just had to try and keep playing the football we had been doing.

"It's four games in a row we have won, so it's going quite well for everyone.

"Let's hope we can keep it going. Sheffield Wednesday will be a tough game at their place, but we just have to make sure we get something out of it.

"We want to go there and win because confidence is so high.

"Our away form has been a bit indifferent this year, but we won at Carlisle the other week and, it might have only been the LDV Vans Trophy, but it has boosted confidence a lot.

"It's a good run we are on and we want to carry it on.''

Robson's second goal of the season came at the weekend, a rare right foot shot finding the top corner to put Pool two goals in front.

The strike helped Pool to a second round tie with Aldershot and Robson admitted: "That was one of the best games I've played this season. It helps when we get the ball down and pass it because I'm involved a lot.

"We kept the ball down, kept it moving and created plenty of chances.

"Lincoln play three at the back, with no full back, so that helped me. If you can drag players out of position with good football, you will cause them plenty of problems.''

Ben Clark went off at half-time as a precaution, suffering from a tight hamstring.

He has been undergoing treatment this week, but should be fit for the trip to Hillsborough.

And Robson admitted having the former Sunderland man at Victoria Park has proved a real bonus. "Ben played in central midfield last year against us for Sunderland, so we know he can play there,'' he said. "He can play centre back, central midfield and he's a good player.

"Jack Ross came back in and did well on the right and Steven Istead came in and looked sharp again.

"It's nice to see them back in.''

Pool's reserves take on Hull at Billingham Town this afternoon.
