POLICE on Teesside have issued an e-fit of a man believed to be responsible for a raid on a post office van.

The smash and grab thief struck as a postman was making deliveries to John Batty School on Walnut Grove in Redcar, last Friday.

Witnesses saw a black Rover car pull up alongside the Royal Mail van. A man then jumped out of the car, smashed the window of the post van and grabbed a grey plastic box containing six special delivery packages.

The thief then drove away with the parcels. He is described as about 35 years old, 5ft 10ins and of medium build. He was wearing a black donkey jacket and blue jeans. The registration number of the car used by the thief is M143MVM.
