The man at the heart of the controversy surrounding Cleveland Police's financial fiasco has left the force in a shroud of secrecy nine months' after being suspended.
Steve Preval, the former director of finance and commissioning, was relieved of his duties when a £7.3m black hole was discovered in the force's spending plans earlier this year - spiralling it close to financial collapse.
But the full story will not be told after a gagging order was inserted in the settlement.
A joint statement released by Cleveland Police Authority and the Cleveland Force says no-one will make comments concerning the case or terms of the settlement agreement.
