A group is being set up to look at the problems of potholes in Evenwood.
Residents complained to Teesdale District Council's Overview and Scrutiny Committee about the potholes in the roads around the centre at a recent public meeting.
Durham County Council has said it will not adopt the roads until they are in a suitable condition, but no one has taken ownership of the roads.
Scrutiny committee chairman Councillor Newton Wood told the committee yesterday that he had spoken with the local representative from regional development agency One NorthEast who had agreed to look into whether regeneration money might be available for the village.
Coun Wood had also been in contact with Durham County Council and was hoping to set up a working group to try to solve the problem, and that Evenwood and Barony Parish Council was prepared to lend secretarial support.
