A DISGRUNTLED football spectator has been arrested and released on police bail after he allegedly tried to attack a referee with a pair of axes at an under-11s match.
The man, who has not been named, is though to have taken issue with a match official after he blew for offside during a mini-soccer game on Sunday, at Dixon Street playing fields in Blackhill, Consett. A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: "A man, aged 24, has been arrested, questioned and released on police bail."
