Beamish Museum, near Stanley, has received a double boost from Barclays Bank.
The bank has donated £16,000 to the museum, to help it launch an educational information pack.
The pack will be sent out to schools that have booked a visit at the museum.
And as part of Make a Difference Day, a group of bank employees volunteered as guides at the visitor attraction.
Miriam Harte, director at Beamish, said: "The funding for the educational information packs was very welcome and it was an added bonus when we were offered volunteers for a second year for Make a Difference Day."
Stella McRae, community manager for Barclays, said: "We are delighted that we have been able to make this donation for the educational packs.
"The volunteers going along for Make a Difference Day is a lovely example of our employees helping to make a real and lasting difference to the local community."
