CRAFTSWOMEN from across Britain have contributed to a collection of quilts on show in the region.
The Nineties Collection, at the Mercer Art Gallery, Harrogate provides a colourful snapshot of the best of British quilt-making from the end of the 20th Century.
Throughout the 1990s, regional groups of the Quilters' Guild commissioned work to support talent across the country.
Inspiration was drawn from various sources, such as the Art Nouveau paintings of Gustav Klimt, Chaucer's Canterbury Tales and medieval Welsh folklore.
Other works drew on landscape, poetry, traditional patterns, natural forms and even archaeological finds.
Curator Jane Sellars said: "The Quilters' Guild of the British Isles was formed in 1979 and represents quilt-makers throughout the country.
"Traditional and contemporary work is of equal importance within the guild, which aims to give quilt-making the status it deserves, both as a craft and as an art."
The exhibition, which opens tomorrow, continues until January 23.
