AN amateur theatre group is looking for someone to bring a touch of glamour to the cast of its latest production, after a long-standing member announced her retirement.
Consett, Blackhill and Shotley Bridge (CBS) amateur operatic society is appealing for a make-up artist, after Mary Herbert decided to hang up her brushes.
The group needs someone to take over in time for its next production, the musical Me and My Girl, that will be staged in May next year.
Mrs Herbert, who is a founder member of the CBS, said: "It is a great hobby and you meet so many lovely friends.
"The society gives you the opportunity to develop your musical and theatrical skills and the ability to perform with a team of dedicated people."
She said she has enjoyed many roles both on and off the stage capacity, but her favourite was playing Ma Flanaghan in Summer Song.
Alan Graham, society chairman, said: "Mary has devoted herself to the society.
"She has always been there when anyone wanted anything done and has been a real brick for us. She will be sadly missed here."
The group rehearses on Mondays, at 7.30pm, in St Patrick's School, Consett and new members aged 16 or over are welcome. Anyone interested or who can help with make up can call Mr Graham on (01207) 580200.
