DARLINGTON manager David Hodgson believes winger Neil Wainwright is setting an example other players in his squad would do well to follow.

Wainwright was one of seven whose name was circulated for loan or transfer last month.

Hodgson insists the measure was taken to assess those players who are out of contract at the end of the season.

After impressing in Wednesday night's defeat at Swansea - a reward for two lively substitute appearances against Rushden and Yeovil - the move appears to be paying dividends for Wainwright.

"Full credit to Wainy, because he has came in and made it clear that he wants to be a part of my plans," said Hodgson.

"Like everybody else, he has shown a fantastic attitude. Now it is up to him to prove he can perform week-in, week-out."

The same would seem to apply to Clark Keltie and David McGurk, who have also made impressive returns to the starting XI after being made available by Hodgson.

Following a successful loan spell at York City this season and after impressing in the reserves, McGurk was rewarded with his first start of the campaign on Wednesday.

After scoring in the 3-3 draw with Yeovil at the weekend, Keltie has done his chances of earning a regular run in the team no harm.

Keltie and McGurk should keep their places when Quakers entertain Lincoln City at the Williamson Motors Stadium tomorrow.
