THREE charities are set to benefit from a festive night of music in Durham Cathedral next month.
Proceeds from the Concert for the Feast of St Nicholas, on Friday December 3, will go to St Cuthbert's Hospice in Durham, Marie Curie Cancer Care and Macmillan Cancer Relief.
The music will be provided by Durham University Choral Society and the Carol Andrew Singers and will include works by Brahms, Gershwin, Mendelssohn and Bruckner.
Readings will be given by Sunderland-born news reporter Kate Adie, Look North presenter Carol Malia and the Duchess of Northumberland.
Linda McDonough, community fundraising manager for Marie Curie Cancer Care, said: "The St Nicholas Concert promises to be a wonderful evening. We are delighted to have such a fantastic line-up of guest speakers and musicians."
Tickets cost between £8 and £30 and are available from the hospice on (0191) 386 1170 or Durham Tourist Information Centre, Millennium Place, Durham.
