A housing modernisation programme has been unveiled for parts of Teesside.
The east Cleveland Coast and Country Housing Association is to spend £60m upgrading homes on the edge of Middlesbrough.
The four-year programme will be carried out by Coast and Country's building services division and will include extensive maintenance and repair work to the company's housing stock in the Eston, Normanby, Grangetown and South Bank areas.
Earlier this month, the housing association secured a £20m agreement with Frank Haslam Milan to carry out maintenance work to 2,091 properties across east Cleveland and parts of Redcar.
The plan is to upgrade every Coast and Country property to meet the Decent Homes Standard set by the Government no later than 2010.
Iain Sim, chief executive of Coast and Country, said: "The people of Redcar and Cleveland have a right to expect good quality housing and we are working with a number of construction and maintenance organisations to improve standards of accommodation across the borough.
"In addition, we have forged strong links with a range of organisations including the police, the local authority and Job Centre Plus and collectively we are helping to raise the general quality of people's lives."
