BUDDING young football stars are hoping to pick up some pearls of wisdom from a seasoned North-East professional.
Former Sunderland captain and ex-Darlington manager Gary Bennett started work coaching promising youngsters in Chester-le-Street.
Mr Bennett, who made 374 appearances for the Black Cats between 1984 and 1995, has signed up with Coerver Coaching. He scored on his home debut in a 3-1 win over Southampton and can be heard on BBC Radio Newcastle as a summariser for the station's SAFC match coverage.
The former Quakers boss will be teaching children aged eight to 14 in an advanced development programme.
The most promising prospects will be recommended for a six-week trial in the junior sides of Football League clubs.
For details on the scheme, call Les Shaw, director of Coerver Coaching, on 0191-419 3633.
