A BUSINESS student from the region has received an award for academic excellence from his university.
David Warnock-Smith, 22, from Harrogate, North Yorkshire, received congratulations from Dr David Grant, the vice-chancellor of Cardiff University, for exam success.
The former pupil of Barnard Castle School, in County Durham, is studying international transport at Cardiff Business School.
He won the Maritime Studies Fund Prize for the Best Overall Performance on his degree, and received £125 at the business school's annual prizegiving.
Cardiff Business School director Roger Mansfield said: "By distributing more than £13,000 in prizes to students, it is an opportunity for the school to reinforce its commitment to teaching and rewarding quality.
"It is also an excellent opportunity for high-calibre students to make themselves visible to prestigious companies who, in addition to sponsoring their prizes, may ultimately become their employer."
